Wyoming invites you to join a year-long commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Throughout 2026, communities across the state will host events, educational programs, and cultural activities that honor our nation’s history and Wyoming’s unique role in it.
From the Indigenous peoples who first called this land home to the pioneers who shaped the West, Wyoming’s story is deeply woven into the fabric of America. Explore museums, historic sites, and statewide celebrations that bring this history to life.
Commemorate America’s 250th Anniversary in Teton County
The Teton County Semiquincentennial Committee is offering a one-time Arts for All Wyoming 250 grant program to support creative projects that reflect America 250 themes. JH Public Art will administer the program as part of the existing Arts for All initiative.
This grant encourages local arts organizations and creators to incorporate America 250 themes into installations and activities presented during the semiquincentennial year. All funded installations must be completed by July 4, 2026.

Call for Submissions: 250 Portraits
250 Portraits invites Wyoming residents of all ages to create self‑portraits using a limited color palette. Fifty portraits will be arranged into five grids and displayed throughout downtown Jackson during the nation’s 250th anniversary year. The project celebrates both individual identity and Wyoming’s shared community spirit, supported by a self‑guided walking map and resources for other towns to host their own installations.

Submission Process
- Confirm participation via Google Form by March 1, 2026
- Submit portraits as digital files (scanned or photographed). Additional instructions will be provided.
Final Submission Deadline: April 1, 2026
